US Independence Day 2018

Setting the example of a safer, quieter alternative to traditional firework shows, in 2018 Travis Air Force Base in California replaced its customary Independence Day pyrotechnic display with an Intel-sponsored Fourth of July Drone Light Show. In addition to celebrating this federal holiday, the performance commemorated the base’s 75th anniversary by using 500 drones to create images that honored active military personnel, veterans, base employees, civilians, and their families.

For our 75th anniversary, and as a way of saying thank you for the unprecedented community support, we wanted to treat our friends and family to a special Independence Day celebration – Intel’s vision to reimagine fireworks with cutting-edge drone technology was a natural fit for our airmen and audience.
