Intel 50th Anniversary

Golden anniversaries of any type are an important milestone, and what better way for Intel to celebrate its 50th than with a record-breaking drone light show. Featuring 2,018 drones, the performance set a Guinness World Record for the most unmanned aerial vehicles airborne simultaneously, smashing the previous record by 644 drones.

Flown over the company’s campus in Folsom, California, in the summer of 2018, the drones formed images that celebrated Intel’s history, including dancing bunny suits, the company’s 50th anniversary logo, and an animation of the Intel 4004, the world’s first commercially available microprocessor. In addition to the Folsom performance, Intel also launched the show in Santa Clara, California, where it was enjoyed by 3,000 employees and their families.

Several years ago, we had an idea of flying drones forming the Intel logo over our corporate headquarters, and here we are doing just that. It really speaks to the innovative spirit that Intel was founded on 50 years ago.
